Attention Flute Teachers! -- register now!
January 11, Sunday @ 10 AM-4:30 PM ~ Every Child Can!© (ECC) course (Brookline, MA)
Are you a skilled, well-trained musician with a genuine affection for children and an interest in helping them develop through the study of music? Are you interested in working in a cooperative atmosphere with children, parents and colleagues? Then this course is for you! ECC is an introduction to Dr. Shinichi Suzuki's philosophy and its application to Suzuki education. This course provides an inspiring, in-depth look at the Suzuki approach to teaching and learning. Many musicians who use the Suzuki Method have found that it provides a unique avenue for helping children and families as well as providing opportunities for their own growth as musicians, teachers, and human beings. For teachers, ECC serves as the first course in the Suzuki Association of the Americas' Teacher Development Program. In addition to exploring the elements of the Suzuki approach and its far-reaching goals, it includes an introduction to learning styles, history of the development of Suzuki education, the role of parents, the importance of Suzuki pedagogical training, and an overview of the SAA's role in supporting teachers and parents. A fast-paced, engaging and inspiring program, ECC includes video materials and SAA-developed courseware, and provides each participant with useful reference materials (manuals) for later study. The Course Facilitator will be SAA- registered Teacher Trainer and flutist, Kim Lorimier from Needham, MA.
To Apply/Register: There are no instrument proficiency requirements and no audition is required. To apply/register, go to www.bmsmusic.org and click on "Suzuki" on the left side of the front page. There you will find the registration form that can be downloaded and sent in with your payment.
Location: Brookline Music School, 25 Kennard Road, Brookline, MA 02445
Fees: The cost of the course is $100 (includes lunch). An additional registration fee of $25 is necessary if your registration is postmarked after December 12, 2008. GBFA members - just mention this year's new Member Authentication Phrase for a 20% discount (just $80 if you register before Dec 12) -- and for you pro crastinators… After Dec 12 there's NO extra $25 late registration fee for GBFA members (just pay the reg. $100 fee, not the $125 late total) -- (not a GBFA member? not renewed? click here).
